SSC Programs
The Savannah Sailing Center offers a variety of programs throughout the year. There is a brief introduction to each program below, follow each programs link for more information or to get involved in a SSC program.
Summer Camp “Catch the Wind”
Our “Catch the Wind” summer camp program is designed for kids ages 8 and up of all abilities and skill levels. The classes are structured to allow for maximum sailing time and personal attention. Beginners participate in a small 8ft Optimist or 15ft Sunfish sailboat, depending on their size. Those with more experience can sail in a 2-person 420 sailboat, also used for high school and college sailing. The summer camp instructors follow the US Sailing curriculum and skills learned are documented with the US Sailing certification record book. “Catch the Wind” is offered as a full day camp.

US Sailing Level 1 Instructors Course
Every spring we offer a US Sailing Level 1 instructors course, approved by the U.S. Coast Guard and NASBLA. This course prepares experienced sailors to teach in a safer, creative, and more effective manner. The overall goal of the program is to produce highly qualified instructors for SSC that help reduce risk exposure for sailing programs.
